Rehearsals, All the Work….

Tremble: your whole life is a rehearsal for the moment you are in now. Judith Malina

For me the whole rehearsal process is a necessary evil. If you don’t do the work before the gigs you can fully expect to fall flat on your face during the gig and then you have only yourself to blame when things fall apart. When you are working with a group of musicians it is key to not only do the work in rehearsals, it helps the rehearsal process go more smoothly if you sit down and do the work before the rehearsals. It’s truly a lot more work than most people imagine. I have this vague idea that people out in the audience just assume that we jump up on stage and that’s all there is to it. If they only knew the work that was involved. The amount of time we spend gigging is only 5% in proportion to the time we actually spend as individuals and a group working out the music in rehearsals. Practice, practice practice, that’s all I can say…..   With that I leave you with BB and Robert Cray… 🙂
