Sorry folks, there has been a lot going on. I have had so very much going on with both the 5 piece band and the acoustic project that I haven’t had time to write. I took some time off from my free lance writing to focus on the bands. We have Barb’s coming up and have been trying to get ready for that and break in Alex on drums. He’s doing GREAT! He’s only 21 and he’s an amazingly accomplished drummer! I have also been getting ready for the Crescent Brewery and have changed the acoustic band’s name to Cymry, which means “The Welsh People” in Welsh. I just want both bands to have their own seperate identities. Jerry was so sweet, he loaned me his violin to use until my Grandma sends me my Grandpa Tuff’s violin. I don;t know when that will be but I hope soon. I am hoping to be able to play “Greensleeves” by the day of the St. Pat’s party on the 16th. I am pretty rusty but have managed to go through it twice without too many mouse sqeeks or dying bird sounds. I figure I will play it late in the evening after everyone is well on their way. That way maybe if I mess it up everyone will be to toasty to notice :). I haven’t even had time to get on FB since the night we played the Crescent last time because a friend’s mom passed and I went to the wake. When I got back I found out someone had hacked my account and was spewing some pretty awful stuff about a friend of mine and I think whoever it was did some pretty irreperable damage to someone that I value as a friend and great musician. They also had everyone convinced I was totally quitting the band, which wasn’t the case at all. I wish I knew who did it and how, but I have heard about this happening to other friends of mine. So I shut down my account for over a week and just barely reopened it. It’s cruel and why someone would do that I do not know. :(. I reported it and hopefully FB will get to the bottom of it. Anyway, all is well. For the acoustic project I have added in 2 more songs. Both by Led Zepplin, “Thank You” and “Leaving California”. I am working out the rough spots on both and they should be ready for the St. Pat’s party! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Wiht that I leave you with “Thank You”
I really wish I could play these two songs tonight at The Crescent Brewery but they are not ready yet, the two new songs for EZ Street Unplugged are “Ripple” by The Grateful Dead and a Celtic song called “Sleep Song” by Secret Garden. I have been so busy I haven’t had the time to work out the structures yet. Although I did touch on both of them this morning and I really like them both. Eventually I want to sing Llongau Caernarfon in Welsh but it has a LOT of double Ll’s and it is very hard to pronounce some of the words. At any rate, we are really stoked about tonight and with that I leave you with “Sleep Song”
I am so ready for The Crescent Brewery! Last night was a long night and I am ready for some kick back bong music, as I like to call it, even though I don’t smoke doob. 🙂 We have some Welsh/Folk songs that weren’t played there last time which we will be playing tonight, including Ei Dir’ Deryn Du (Black Bird Will You Fly), Dacw’ Nghariad (There Is My Love), Llosgi Yn FFlam (Burning the Flame), The Blind Harper (Welsh Version), Llongau Caernarfon (Leaving Caernarfon), and a very cool version of Greensleeves that I have arraigned based upon Ritchie Blackmore‘s (from Rainbow/Dio) version. We will also play some originals and a tune by the Psychedelic Furs! Yes, it is never a dull moment! LOL 🙂 If I am singing something and you think your drunk because you can’t understand the words it’s not because you’re drunk it’s because if you don’t speak Welsh you won’t understand the words. So, LOL, you probably aren’t drunk….Wait, maybe you are? In case you all are wondering, as many do, “Just exactly where and what is Wales?” No, we are not large mammals that eat fish and live in the ocean, no we are not a grape juice company. 🙂 Wales is a country in the Southern UK. We have roots that are shared by Scotland and Ireland and all three countries fought against Roman and England’s oppression and rule. We all speak different languages but the Welsh language is probably the furthest from most Gaelic languages. The Welsh language is called Cymric and has a lot of double ff’s, double dd’s and double ll’s, The double ll’s pronounced sort of sound to the inexperienced ear like a cat trying to spit up a fur ball. My families name is Dafydd, which is pronounced Daavvith which, when my family came here from Cowbridge, Glamorganshire, Wales, it became Davies and then got shortened to Davis. Wales is also called the land of music and each year, since the beginning, has a huge Eistefodd which dates back to the 12th century. It is a gathering of Poets, bards and musicians to celebrate their art. All of the Celtic peoples, Welshmen, Scotsmen and Irishmen have deep musical roots and music is the expression of all that they hold near and dear to heart, Family, Hearth, and country. We hope to see you all out tonight!!!!!!!!!!! Peace Jaz
We are playing The Construction Zone tonight and it is our first time there. This is a make it or break it gig. In other words, even though Sally has seen us live, if we don’t kick ass tonight we won’t be asked back…EEEEK. LOL. Greg Asbury is sitting in with us tonight and he is an amazing drummer and then Alex Ridgeway takes over next week. I had the whole, “What do I wear” debate, of all things! So I decided to go with a halter top dress, long duster and knee high F**k me boots….Hell, I might as well look like I’m gonna kick some ass right? LMAO. Hopefully I will be able to bribe someone to take some pics for us. Anyway, I think we will have a good turn out and I am knocking on wood, throwing salt over my left shoulder and wishing upon a star that we do GREAT tonight! Then tomorrow Me, Rick Gibson and Mike are at The Crescent Brewery for 3 acoustic sets, that is always an easy breezy gig. It is what I call my bong gig, even though I don’t smoke doob LMAO :). Wish us luck. Here are some pics for you from the gig at Willi B’s on the 2nd. Peace….

Peace Monkey, my bday present
To all of our friends, family and all the people that have supported us through the years. We hope this VDay finds you all healthy, happy, warm and loved! Here’s our version of The Moody Blues…
Well, we are moving forward. We have a friend of ours filling in on Friday on drums and I really wish we could keep him but he’s in 2 other projects, alas….. We are auditioning a new drummer tonight and hopefully he will work out. Other than that, Brother Bob is out for this weekend’s acoustic gig for surgery, but Rick is back after his surgery and sounding frisky. I am so very glad he is ok! So for our line up at The Crescent Brewery acoustic gig we will have Bobby Day, our regular guitar player, sitting in along with Rick Gibson on harp! We have picked up a couple of new gigs since I last wrote and the gig at Willi B’s was really a lot of fun!!! We got hired back so that’s a good thing 🙂 Stay tuned…..
I love all the members of the band, but they aren’t allowed to break my heart. I worked my ass off on the songs that I do and I am sorry but you aren’t entitled to destroy everything that I have worked so hard for. I spend hours and hours working on the music and what makes one person think they are entitled to be a shithead and treat everyone like they are “better” than everyone else. I have NO compunction about firing someone that won’t meld with the rest of the band and seems to feel like they have “earned” entitlement. It pisses me off! I have been singing and playing instruments since I was 3. They are not special, there is nothing that they are doing that is “amazing”. They want to really take a walk in my shoes I will gladly hand them to them. I have been through more than they can ever imagine, but at least I freakin smile when I fire them.
