Almost There….Willi B’s Here We Come!

I think I am almost over this damn, dreaded URI! I am getting ready to sit down and practice before rehearsals start at 5:30. I finally got the structure on “Greensleeves” done. I really like it, it’s a little faster than the standard version and I am using a break that Richie Blackmore put in his version of “Greensleeves” which really helps the song have a cool edge. I finally, finally have the rythm pattern on “Dacw’ Nghariad” the way I want it. Now, if only I can remember it come Saturday. LOL :). I am feeling well enough today that I am quite sure my voice will be 100% by Saturday….YAY! I have been so worried. This is, by far, is the worse case of laryngitis I have ever suffered through and tried to sing through. There have been minor ones in the past but usually due to straining too hard. This one, because it was due to an infection, really hurt and lasted much longer. I am getting excited about the gig at Willi B’s. When we go on our 15 minute breaks Brother Bob is going to take over and do some of his own stuff, which is cool. So there won’t be any down time from 7-10. I just hope we have a great turn out! So onward my friends………. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee:)

Catching Up…

Being sick, for a vocalist, really sux ass! I have been up and down for over a month now, and yes I am going to the doc on Friday to get some antibiotics….. Anyway, Steven and I sat down and went through all the Welsh/Celtic tunes and the originals on guitar and percussion. It was pretty cool! That was the first time I have ever just sat down with a drummer like that! It’s a very cool sound and it keeps me honest on my tempo. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee! 🙂 I only have to lock down my rhythm pattern on Dac’w Nghariad and finish the structure on Greensleeves and other than regular rehearsals before the gig on Saturday I am almost ready, if only my voice would cooperate. I can take being sick, what I can’t take is this damn laryngitis! Other than that we added 3 new songs to the list as of last night, “It’s A Long Way to the Top” by AC/DC, “Taking Care of Business” by BTO and “I Am the Highway” by Audioslave.  3 good song choices and that means I get to take a couple off the set list that we are tired of doing. So, “After Midnight” is gone and possibly “Boardwalk” I am kind of on the fence with that one because it is still a crowd pleaser. With that I leave you with Audioslave….enjoy…..

The Future’s So Bright…

We had an AWESOME rehearsal last night. We have added 3 new songs and they just need a little tweaking and they will be tight! I was really surprised how fast they fell together, and very pleased. I am so very lucky to have the musicians that I do! So, on our new set list we have added, Stray Cats Strut, Blue on Black and I’ll Be Your Man. Next up to bat are Smooth by Santana, It’s a Long Way to the Top by AC/DC, and Sunshine of your Love by Cream. That will just about top us off on the goal we set for ourselves and soon I will be able to start toggling off some of the songs that are getting old for us.

On the Acoustic front I have added in a new song for the Celtic list. It’s one of my favorite songs and I actually learned it first on violin. We are going to be doing Greensleeves, and I spent yesterday teaching myself the chord progressions, working out the vox and setting up the structure. I really like it and it’s a good addition to the other Celtic tunes we are doing.

Here is the band’s current schedule for anyone interested in coming out to see us play:

On that note I leave you with Greensleeves….
